Rats are on the ice

I repeat, rats are on the ice. Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final went to the Florida Panthers on their home ice on Saturday night.

An empty net goal late in the game was the cherry on top of the 3-0 win over the Edmonton Oilers. It was also all the fans needed to make it rain rats.

The story of the night was the performance by Florida goalie Sergei Bobrovsky. He pitched a shutout against an offense that has the leader in goals during these playoffs and the leader in points.

He did so by stopping 32 shots. The man showed up ready for Game 1 and didn't allow a single shot to find the net. It was as impressive of a performance as you'll see from a goalie.

Every time you thought the Oilers were going to get on the board, Bobrovsky made the play.

He's not going to stop every shot for the rest of the series, but the Panthers are going to be tough to beat if he keeps playing anywhere close to the level he did last night.

If the Panthers win Game 2 and the Oilers are still having a difficult time putting the puck in the net, fans will likely be calling on their secret weapon to pull off a repeat performance and rally the team.

UFC Fight Night

There was a lot of action last night during UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs. Imavov in Louisville, Kentucky, but none more impressive or with a sweeter mullet than that by Zach Reese.

The man lives and dies in th first-round and isn't looking to feel his opponents out. He wants to step into the octagon and exchange. That's exactly what he did last night.

Reese took care of business and improved to 7-1 as a professional with every single one of his pro fights ending in the first-round. He made easy work of Julian Marquez.

Reese needed just 20 seconds to finish Marquez. A kick to the body followed by an uppercut put his opponent on the canvas and hammer fists ended the night.

If you're stepping foot in the octagon with a mullet that sweet, you have to be a guy that gets it done, win or lose, in the first-round. Zach Reese is that guy. We'll see if that continues as he faces tougher and tougher opponents.

What a moment for those with front holes

Those who only have back holes won't ever understand.

Chris Pratt's a fan of grilling season

Chris Pratt whipped up a couple of elk steaks and cottage cheese for a snack, and he didn't have some fancy chef do it for him. At least not while the camera was rolling.

He beat his meat, seasoned it, and tossed it on the grill. Now that's a hell of a snack.

Screencaps

I already said nice work this week. My daughter was so happy to see her donuts and doodle in Screencaps. Shoutout to Otis for putting meat on public grates. The old Weber at this beach house was so rusty we would’ve had orange meat. I’ll have to send in some Black Forest bacon from Aldi when I get back. It’s the kids’ new favorite.

We stopped at a beach bar the other day and I had a Cheeseburger in Paradise. They even had Natty in longnecks. The burgers I made on charcoal were better. Not bragging or putting down the restaurant. You need to grill on charcoal.

SeanJo:

I agree with you about the charcoal grill. It's all we had growing up, and I can still taste it every time someone says anything about a charcoal grill. I'm going to have to pick one up at some point.

I understand completely about rusty grates. That's what I've got going on and why I had to pick up some grate covers when they were sold out of replacement grates.

Great Week

Anonymous Millennial from Memphis checking in. Throughly enjoyed the content this week. I have loved reading the stories about WWII veterans. Such a tough, hard generation that suffered through hard times. Truly, the greatest generation. Can you imagine how different the world would be if the U.S. hadn’t gotten involved in the war?

It seems that there are two kinds of wives: aluminum foil on public grills or not. Like Chris from Johnson City, my wife is pro foil on public grills. Not a battle I’m willing to fight her on.

As it was mentioned a few days back, I think grilled chicken wings are underrated. A grilled chicken wing is far up my list of favorite foods. I will say, I’m partial to whole wings. I think the flavor you can get on a whole wing is much better than party wings.

Grilled these last night after fertilizing the yard. Start and Finish.

SeanJo:

Thanks for the support. I couldn’t agree with you more about the WWII veterans. Imagine the generation coming up (with their gluten allergies and overall inability to be uncomfortable) being faced with what they had to go through.

As far as public grates are concerned, I'm not necessarily opposed to covering the public grill grate if there's rust on it. That's the reason I need new grates at home and bought the grate covers on Memorial Day. You don't want pieces of grate in your food, but if the grate is intact you're missing out on years of flavor covering that bad boy up.

I'm 100 percent with you on the chicken wings on the grill. It's not a meat that pops into your head right away when you think about throwing something on the grill, but you're not going to be disappointed if you do pop them on.

Chicken wings on the grill are awesome, and it looks like yours turned out nicely. Send more from your grill as you fire it over the summer.

Smoked meat fun!

- Homebrew Bill writes:

Put a pork butt or shoulder roast on the Kamado this morning. Just wrapped it to finish cooking. I'll shred it and freeze it to take to Table Rock Lake next weekend. From sandwiches to omelets to Chile Verde enchiladas it's a versatile cut of meat. I checkerboard cut both sides last night and seasoned then let the meat rest in the fridge overnight. I'll add more seasoning when I pull it. Cheers!

What an opening week to the grilling season for Homebrew Bill. If we were handing out awards you would definitely be up for more than one this week. This is another fantastic offering from your grill. Keep your grilling content coming.

Screencaps Brooke Burke question

- Ronnie from Union, Kentucky writes:

Sean:

You asked about Brooke Burke, and I figured I’d chime in.

Became a fan of Brooke a long time ago, back in the days of Wild On on the E! network, and have always thought she was one of the hottest women ever. She’s been impossibly beautiful for decades, and somehow still has her fastball.

I’m hoping you see Brooke the same way, but if not, that’s ok.

Keep up the great work, and thanks!

SeanJo:

Well technically, John from SD tossed the Brook Burke question out there. But I'm as interested as he is in the responses and I agree with your assessment. She first popped up on my radar years ago as well and, in my book, has done an above average job maintaining her fastball over the years.

Count me as team Brooke Burke.

That's all I've got for this Sunday. The eight straight have been completed. I appreciate everyone's support this week. The Screencaps community is awesome.

Keep sending the grilling season content as you fire up the grill throughout the week. We'll take a look at what everyone has sent in on Sundays. Here's the latest from my grill.

Yes, we had hamburgers and hot dogs again - as we did on Memorial Day - and yes, I'm still rolling with the grate covers. I'm a procrastinator. What can I say?

Have a great week. Send me what you've got cooking on your grill this week and whatever else you want to sean.joseph@outkick.com.
