Na wat lekkage heeft BMW officieel het doek getrokken van de 4 Serie LCI.
De BMW 4 Serie in huidige vorm gaat alweer een aantal jaren mee. De uiterlijke eigenschappen van de coupé en cabrio hadden enige gewenning nodig, maar inmiddels zijn de meesten wel bekomen van de schok. Het merk gaat op die voet verder met de BMW 4 Serie LCI.
De Verenigde Staten is de belangrijkste afzetmarkt voor dit model. Andere landen waar de 4 Serie goed scoort is China en Duitsland.
Zowel de coupé als de cabrio als de M4 heeft een facelift gekregen. Het is een typische facelift, met kleine verbeteringen. Makkelijke weggevers zijn de vernieuwde koplampen en ietwat vernieuwde achterlichten. Ook introduceert het merk nieuwe velgen. Die er overigens weer lekker verschrikkelijk uitzien. Spuit maar zilver, wellicht knapt het op. Echt revolutionaire wijzigingen zijn er niet.
Het model komt verkrijgbaar met het MSport-pakket, het MSport-pakket Pro en het MCarbon-exterieurpakket als je de boel ‘sportief’ wil aankleden. Alsof dat nog niet genoeg is komt er een breed scala aan extra’s beschikbaar via BMW M Performance Parts. Je kunt de lol op.
Interieur
In het interieur hebben de grootste merkbare nieuwigheden plaatsgevonden. Het infotainmentsysteem draait nu op BMW besturingssysteem 8.5. Ook is het stuurwiel nieuw, met een platte onderkant á la Audi en een 12-uur markering bovenop omdat je elke bocht aanvalt natuurlijk. Over het stuur gesproken: schakelflippers zijn voortaan standaard met de LCI.
Optioneel is het Augmented View-display voor het navigatiesysteem BMW Maps in de 4 Serie LCI. Verder zijn de stoelen voor het eerst in een 4 Serie uitgerust met MPerformtex. Dit is een duurzamer materiaal, want standaard leder is in 2024 uit den boze. Uiteraard. Optioneel kun je Vernasca lederen of Individual-leder Merino krijgen. Er is dus nog wel keuze.
Goed nieuws voor fans van kermisverlichting in het interieur. De sfeerverlichting is verder uitgebreid, met ook contourverlichting in de bekleding rond de ventilatieroosters. Er is keuze uit negen kleuren verlichting om de boel te personaliseren naar eigen smaak.
Nieuwe kleurtjes zijn er in vorm van Cape York Green metallic en Fire Red metallic. In totaal zijn er acht tinten om uit te kiezen bij de BMW 4 Serie Coupé en Cabrio LCI.
Motoren
Qua motoren heeft BMW gelukkig geen slechte keuzes gemaakt. Je kunt nog steeds shoppen voor zescilinders. De line-up bestaat uit een 184 pk instapper viercilinder benzinemotor. Gevolgd door een 245 pk variant. Er is ook een 190 pk en een 286 pk sterke diesel.
Met de M440i xDrive Coupé en Cabrio begint het pas echt leuk te worden. De zes-in-lijn turbomotor is goed voor 374 pk en 500 Nm koppel. Er is ook een zes-in-lijn diesel, dat is de M440d xDrive Coupé en Cabrio met 340 pk en 700 Nm. Het topmodel is de M4 met 480 of 530 pk.
BMW M4
Het lekkerste voor het laatste bewaren. Zo zijn wij. De BMW M4 LCI komt er in drie smaken. De 480 pk instapper en de 510 pk Competition blijven. Daar komt een derde variant bij. Dit is een versie met 530 pk en M xDrive.
De nieuwe topvariant sprint in 3,5 seconden naar de honderd. De topsnelheid is standaard begrensd op 250 km/u. Optioneel kan dat naar 280 km/u of 290 km/u met het MDriver’s Package, afhankelijk van de uitvoering.
De BMW M4 LCI is verder aan te kleden met het optionele M Carbon exterior package. Dat betekent vooral meer zichtbaar carbon aan de voor- en achterzijde van de auto. Inclusief spiegelkappen en een kleine achterspoiler. Kies je dan ook nog voor het M Race Track package met onder andere M Carbon remmen, dan weet BMW 25 kg van het gewicht te snoepen. Ze weten het mooi te verkopen.
De BMW 4 Serie LCI komt er spoedig aan. Duitse prijzen zijn al bekend.. De coupé begint bij 52.900 euro en de cabrio bij 60.400 euro. Nederlandse prijzen volgen in een later stadium.
Samen met de Mercedes CLE hebben de Duitsers twee sterke coupé’s in de line-up, met een breed scala aan motoren. Daarmee zijn zowel BMW als Mercedes in de minderheid. Het segment is inmiddels een niche. Wat dat betreft valt het ze te prijzen dat dit soort modellen nog bestaan.
